The Story of Mision Adonai

In the late 1990s members of the cabinet and many other United Methodists began to dream a dream of Hispanic/Latino ministries in Western North Carolina. Dr. Richard Howle, then Superintendent of the High Point District, and a small team began to develop a plan for the district. About the same time, God was bringing Ana Morrison and her daughter, Christell, to Asheboro from California. Through a marvelous series of providential connections, Pastor Ana was appointed to lead Mision Methodista Unida Adonai. First services were held in October, 2001. In just a few months, Mision Adonai had outgrown the facilities of the former Legend Park UMC. This building, with a small sanctuary that seats only 85-90, an office, a small kitchen, a tiny nursery space and two small bathrooms cannot continue to meet the needs of the more than 120 adults, 20 infants and toddlers and 35 other children and youth who worship here 7 days a week.
